Designing a Sustainable and Multipurpose Office Space with Modern, Practical Features

In an attempt to develop a building which is self-sustaining I was tasked with the fabrication and design of a self-sustaining building with a net-zero emission of CO2, and a very low energy usage from a power grid. This building has been designed with the movement of the sun kept in mind. Having said that, the placement of fenestration and solar panels has been carefully chosen to provide the very best results to the building’s occupants, keeping the occupants immersed in the outdoors with two levels of outdoor spaces, while simultaneously keeping an open environment inside the office space as well.

In an effort to develop a self-sustaining building, I was tasked with the design and fabrication of a structure achieving net-zero CO₂ emissions and minimal reliance on the power grid. The building was designed with the movement of the sun as a primary driver, using solar orientation to reduce energy demand and support passive performance strategies

Driven by the goal of net-zero emissions, this multipurpose office uses passive solar strategies to shape its structural geometry. Strategic roof apertures and deep fenestrations align with the sun's natural trajectory to optimize daylighting and mitigate heat gain. By integrating dual-level outdoor terraces directly into the core workspace, the design dissolves the boundary between interior and exterior, ensuring peak efficiency while keeping occupants continuously engaged with the natural environment.
